What is OCT?
OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) is a non-invasive imaging technique that provides cross-sectional views of the eye’s internal structures, particularly the retina and optic nerve. Utilizing Swept Source technology, it delivers exceptionally detailed and deep images—even in patients with cataracts or vitreous opacities.
Angio-OCT – Vascular Imaging Without Contrast
Thanks to the Angio-OCT function, it is possible to visualize the blood vessels of the retina and macula without the need for contrast injection—making it an ideal method for patients with contraindications to fluorescein angiography.
Indications for OCT / Angio-OCT:
Diagnostic indications:
- Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
- Macular edema (diabetes, retinal vein occlusions)
- Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR)
- Retinal vascular abnormalities
- Suspected macular hole, epiretinal membrane, or vitreomacular traction
- Glaucoma diagnostics (optic nerve head OCT)
- Optic nerve neuropathies
Preventive (monitoring and early detection):
- Patients with diabetes – annual OCT screening for retinopathy
- Patients with glaucoma – monitoring of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness
- Individuals over 50 years old – screening examinations for AMD
- Follow-up after laser therapy or intravitreal treatment
- Patients presenting additional symptoms: metamorphopsia, scotomas, or deterioration of central vision
Advantages of OCT at Our Clinic:
- Cutting-edge Swept Source OCT technology (Topcon Triton)
- High sensitivity and resolution—even in patients with cataracts
- Fast and painless examination (approximately 5 minutes)
- No need for pupil dilation
- Ability to archive images and perform longitudinal comparisons
All examinations are completely safe, quick, and do not require any physical contact with the eye.
